U14 Cup -
Bacton United 0 Brandon Lasses 1
Due to the terrible
weather the day before this cup fixture was
switched to Brandon as Bacton's pitch was
waterlogged. The playing surface at Brandon
was perfect. Disaster struck for Bacton
after 30 seconds as influential midfielder
Amber Britton pulled a hamstring and could
take no further part in the game. Brandon
had a couple of early chances but stand-in
keeper Maria Walker was off her line to
gather well. Brandon were involved in some
good build-up play but Bacton as a team were
yet again up for the challenge ahead. There
was a good battle going on between Brandon's
tricky winger and Bacton's Tiffany Weeks.
Shantel Noble and Grania Smith were working
tireless in midfield. Brandon looked
dangerous at corners and Jordan Davies got
in a couple of good headers to clear. Bacton
broke forward quickly Alice Morton a threat
to Brandon with her pace. Up the other end
Maria saving a goal bound shot with her foot
and before h.t Megan Davies tried her luck
with an overhead kick.
The second half continued
with Bacton frustrating Brandon with some
brilliant defending by the likes of Lisa
Hynard Jordan and Tiffany. For Bacton Grania
ran half the length of the field cutting in
only to be tackled at the last minute. Busy
goalie Maria pulled off a great one handed
save. After a goal-mouth scramble Brandon
scored, not to be outdone Bacton pushed
forward Chloe Hilton's long throw finding
Shantel with some good hold-up play, played
in Grania,as the keeper sliced her clearance
Angelica Arnold got to the ball first only
to have her shot blocked. Georgie Bryant
also done well with a run out near the end.
Bacton can be proud of their gallant effort
in which both teams contributed to a great
game. Bacton's player of the match Maria.
