U15 -
Debenham LC 0 Woodbridge Town 0
A stalemate was the
inevitable outcome of a match fought between
two equal sides chasing silverware, where
defensive play dominated and neither side
was prepared to give an inch. Charlie
Felgate, Tasha Barker and Zoe Elliott were
strong in their tackles and clearances and
Esther Gosling provided the safe pair of
hands to pluck high balls out of the air and
was ever ready to run out of goal, to narrow
angles and smother the ball when necessary.
Goal scoring chances were few and far
between. A Zoe Elliott free-kick in the
first half, and a run and shot from the same
player, were well saved, and a cross from
Sammy Westgate was put just past the post by
Sophie Adamson.
In the second half,
Debenham's best chance came as Sammy
Westgate broke through Woodbridge's llast
line of defence, but her shot from a narrow
angle, though beating the keeper, also
drifted past the post. A shot from Ceara O'
Keefe was blocked after good work from Lisa
Dennis who helped out the defence with
several timely tackles during the game. The
match finished with a succession of
Woodbridge corners, one of which nearly
caused a heart attack to Debenham players
and spectators alike, as the ball flashed
across the goal. Fortunately for Debenham,
no Woodbridge player made contact. A special
mention for Sophie Adamson who took a volley
full in the face, and bravely carried on as
if nothing had happened. Checks were made at
half time to make sure if the ball was OK.
U14 -
Copleston SC 2 Bury Town 'A' 3
Bury came to this match,
hoping for something after their recent much
improved performance against Copleston in
the cup, but the first 20 minutes saw
Copleston dominate and open the scoring,
this seemed to wake Bury up and they took
the game back to Copleston, Gemma Sadler
scoring a cracking equalizer so 1-1 at the
break.
Copleston again started much
stronger and took the lead 2-1,but the
inevitable Bury fighting spirit came out and
after some great passing play from Kate
McGreavy, Lucy Robinson and Hannah Merriam,
Sadler poached her second. The last fifteen
minutes were end to end both teams desperate
for the winner, Charlotte Osbourne making an
amazing reaction save in the Bury goal kept
Copleston out, and after a lovely break from
Bury, Sadler fired home the winner and her
second hat trick of the season, a great
competitive match and a well deserved win
for Bury.

- Waveney Girls 1 Brandon Lasses 4
(OG, Charlotte Howard, Natasha Dawson,
Francesca Bonnett)
Brandon travelled to
Lowestoft for the second meeting between the
clubs in as many weeks and took an early
advantages when a well delivered corner was
deflected in by the home team. Charlotte
Howard made it two with a neat chip over the
keeper and the Lasses were three up by the
interval after good work in midfield by
Dayna Howard set up Natasha Dawson.
Waveney pulled a goal back
early in the second half but this failed to
spur Brandon on and despite creating chances
struggled to find the net. Francesca Bonnett
score the Lasses fourth towards the end
after some good play between Paige Kenny and
Dayna. Credit to Waveney who got body's
behind the ball and cleared their lines
well. Ellen Rumsey covered well at the back
and April Harrild showed the sort of passion
and energy that should be maintained by all!
Brandon must improve on their work rate at
times but still played some good passing
football and come away with the three
points.
U11
Cup - Cornard Dynamos 1 Waveney 'A' 2
To use a sporting cliché it was a game of
two halves, first half but for some
excellent goalkeeping from M Shields and
last ditching tackling by D Warner and B
Picton Waveney may have been more than two
behind. What a transformation, the second
half saw the old Waveney take the field" the
never say die" team, passes found yellow and
black shirts, tackles were meant. A Selby Z
Cossey and A Lark now cut through Cornard's
defence with good passing and movement to
create chance for A Cheverton and S Henwood
to score. Two goals from Z Cossey tied the
match and with L Eaton coming on to replace
the tiring midfielders the girls battled on
to earn a well deserved draw.
U10 - Bacton United 0 Copleston S.C. 0
For the first ten minutes Bacton were
struggling to get out of their own half
Copleston pressing forward especially down
the wings Lauren Lowings and Lucy Finbow
having a lot of defending to do. Copleston
should of scored but a shot flashed wide
when well placed. Bacton huffed and puffed
and eventually Ellen Laidlaw's strong
running from midfield opened up the game
more and Bactons' Laura Tuley got in a good
shot in on goal.
The second half Bacton got their game
together a nice through ball from Andie
Goodacre set up Laura who shot wide. Bacton
were creating a lot more chances. There was
plenty of excitement from the touchline, it
looked like Bacton had scored as Charley-Ann
Musslewhite raced to meet a deflected shot,
only for her effort to go across the face of
the goal. Copleston had a great effort on
goal brilliantly saved by Kayleigh Allberry.
Megan Williams looked good on the ball
coming away from defence and as the game
went on both teams were going for the first
goal. Jordan Rainbird's long throw finding
Francesca Rainbird who was as always a worry
to any team with the ball sticking to her
feet. Joanna Walker also deserves a mention
for a decent second half .Right near the end
a brilliant tackle from Lucy stopped a goal
bound effort from Copleston. So a 0-0 draw
was enough to give Bacton runners-up in the
league. Well done girls.
